Thomas Vincent Phillips was born in Toronto Canada on June 17, 1931. He has always had a calling for art. He had a career as a chemist in a pigment manufacturing company but left that and began to devote all his time to creating his art. He studied at the Doon School of the Arts near Kitchener, Ontario and the Artist Workshop in Toronto as well as took photography at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. He has had exhibitions in Toronto, Canada, Beijing China and for the second time exhibiting work at the Grand Palais in Paris, France.
He has traveled extensively throughout Europe painting numerous scenes from a number of its great cities. He is an observational artist who recognizes patterns and structure in the world around him His subject matter includes landscapes, urban settings, human figures, still life, and mechanical objects. He expresses himself in a variety of media; drawing, painting, wood carving, photography and print making.
Drawing and painting the world around him, on a daily basis, continues to be the center point of his life.
